In this fourth lesson, you will learn the problem of the bill. Even though the deck is handed out to be shuffled and cards randomly turned face up and down, when they are spread, the only face-up cards are the numbers that match the serial number on a bill. This lesson reveals incredible secrets that let you control the seemingly random actions of your spectators to create an unbelievable prediction.



Here’s what the trick actually looks like:



1. The idea of a bet is introduced, and some cash is put under a clear glass for everyone to see. Then the deck of cards is handed out for shuffling.



2. Small packets of cards are handed out to several members of the audience.



3. Everyone participates in the ritual. They shuffle and cut their packets. They pass different cards from the top to the bottom, or turn cards face up or down, all making different choices seemingly at random.



4. The packets are collected and randomly turned face-up and face-down as they are reassembled into the pack and squared.



5. Now the magician reveals that they never shared the rules of the bet with the audience. The spectator takes the bill that has been on display the entire time and reads the serial number out. Suddenly, the rules become clear when the deck is spread, and despite all of the chaos, the only face-up cards are the exact serial numbers of the bill that has been read out.
