Luke Jermay – A Twisted Palm

This document describes a palm reading effect that uses suggestion and the ideomotor response to make spectators believe they see lines moving on their own palm. The performer engages in cold reading of the spectator’s palm, then suggests the lines will move if the spectator concentrates. Through careful questioning and allowing time for the ideomotor response to take effect, the performer can get spectators to report seeing lines moving in circles or other shapes. The effect is culminated by having the spectator see a cross shape formed by their palm lines.
