The Deuces by Paco Agrado.

THE DEUCES When I started to prepare this act, and within the limits of the competition disciplines, I decided to use the classic idea of giving personality to 4 cards of the same value and make every thing happen around them . I chose the deuces: cards forgotten by the majority but eager to show their hidden abilities . This allowed a large number of effects to be put together in a short time and with a certain formal unity.Appearances, deck colour changes,assemblies,triumphs…almost everything fits .If you have seen any card magic competition,you know what I am talking about . At this point it became necessary to find a central effect,after having‘presented’ them, in which only they intervened and the cards across the table seemed ideal . After some months of work, the fundamental moment of di scovering the‘black card’ arrived at the conference‘Nanoma gias’, by Román García,who also had the generosity to give me one as a gift at the end of the conference . Playing with it at home, the application became evident and the sequence took a leap in quality. Somewhat later, inspired by Eric Jones'“Twizted”, I got to know the principle of the“flipper card ¹”and,like the discoverer of the mop, I realized that both could work together in a single device . After the obligatory‘phone call’,‘Manolo TheSartenes’, a friend and fantastic craftsman, got to work to develop the gim mick and within a few days the‘Caaaaarta Negra²’was a reality. That's how I was able to present it the last time I competed with him, in a place I couldn't have dreamed of when I started: FISM Blackpool 2012. Maybe because of everything it taught me, or because of the conversations I was able to have thanks to it, or because it is still part of my repertoire today… But it is one of the routines that I am most fond of.
