Originally published in French in 1868, this book is mainly devoted to coin and card numbers, but Robert-Houdin also describes many other numbers including some history of magic. The English translation was done by Louis Hoffmann, and along with his own book, Modern Magic published in 1876, caused controversy for revealing the magicians' secrets in detail.
